The Mochudi Foursquare Church was planted in January 2009. The Church began with a small dedicated leadership team including the Jorgensens and Somolekaes. By February they had begun public meetings at the Jorgensen's home under the covered parking area. The church grew slowly with a strong core group of around 20 people. However, it was obvious that for the church to sustain any growth they had to move to their own place of worship.

Buying land was imperative. The Foursquare church in Botswana had never owned land, so in order to be recognized as a legitimate church they needed to have land. Also, it was important to the people in Mochudi that they see the Foursquare church as “setting down roots” in order to be a permanent part of their community. The Bakgatla people in Mochudi want a church they can trust will stay and really be a part of the village. Many other churches in the village do not own land and as a result the people are skeptical of their commitment.

The church was planted at the Jorgensen’s residence in Makakatlela Ward in Mochudi. Originally, they were afraid that they would only be able to find a plot of land far from Makakatlela on the other side of Mochudi. They were concerned that after all the outreach in that area that if the church were to move then many of the congregants would not be able to make the commute. So after much prayer and seeking, God provided the perfect place right in Makakatlela, Mochudi. The plot of land they found was right near the main taxi stop and across the street from Mmusi Primary School. It is only a 10 minute walk from the Jorgensen’s residence.

The church was able to purchase a tent for meeting in, and on July 12, 2009, the Mochudi Foursquare church met for the first time on their own land in their own tent. Within a few weeks, the church grew form 20 to 30 adults and from 35 to 80 children in Sunday School.

 MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Mochudi Foursquare Church is making a difference in Mochudi. The youth especially have been very involved in the community serving at weddings and funerals and anywhere else they can volunteer. We’ve heard testimonies from people in the community saying, “We know the Foursquare church cares because they serve.” The Mochudi Foursquare church continues to grow and make an impact in the community. Please pray for continued favour and blessing as we move into 2010.
